Former CoinShares CSO Meltem Demirors seeks to raise $75 million for two new venture funds: filings

Meltem Demirors, former chief strategy officer of the digital asset manager CoinShares, is seeking to raise $75 million for two new venture funds, according to filings with the and Commission. 

The two new funds are called Crucible Capital Fund I and Crucible Capital Fund 1-A, according to the filings. They seek to raise $45 million and $30 million respectively. Demirors is listed as the Managing Member of the General Partner for both funds. 

Demirors served as CoinShares CSO from May 2018, leaving the position in January 2024. She still serves as the Director of the University of Oxford's Strategy Programme, according to her LinkedIn.

Crypto venture

According to The Block Research, 759 venture funding deals exceeded $3.2 billion in the second quarter of 2024, an 8% increase from the previous quarter.

This year's second quarter saw an increase in the number of deals for Early Stage, Pre-Seed, Seed and Pre-Series A raises. However, early-stage companies, in particular, saw a decrease in the total amount invested, decreasing from $1 billion in 2024's first quarter to $828 million in 2024's second quarter.
