The web3 game developer Azra Games raised $42.7 million in Series A funding, bring its total fundraising to $68.3 million.
Franklin Bi from Pantera Capital led the round. Individuals from a16z crypto, a16z games and NFX provided further support, according to a Tuesday release.
Azra Games intends to use the funding to build out its projects in current development and to expand its team. In addition, it will grow out Azra Labs, a research and development initiative led by Azra Games's co-founder and CTO Travis Boudreaux. Azra Labs investigates artificial intelligence use in AAA mobile content.
“The team at Azra Games has the incredible opportunity and vision to trailblaze the fourth generation of mobile RPG games that combines the creativity of new gaming formats and experiences with the digital ownership of blockchain,” said a16z crypto General Partner Arianna Simpson in a statement.
Azra Games raised $15 million in seed funding led by a16z, with additional participation from NFX, Coinbase Ventures, Play Ventures and Franklin Templeton, in May 2022, The Block previously reported.
